Lundin Gold Posted All-Time High First Quarter Gold Production

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Lundin Gold Inc. reported all-time high first quarter gold production of 121,655 ounces in Q1 2022 from its Fruta del Norte gold mine in Ecuador. Out of this, 78,601 ounces were produced as concentrate and 43,064 ounces as dore. It must be noted that the company’s gold production had totalled only 104,137 ounces in the corresponding quarter last year.

During the first quarter of 2022, the mill processed approximately 373,407 tonnes at an average throughput rate of 4,149 tonnes per day. This compares with 324,591 tonnes of ore processed in Q1 2021 at an average throughput rate of 3,607 tonnes per day. The average grade of ore milled dropped from 11.4 to 11.2 grams per tonne over the previous year. Meantime, the average recovery increased from 87.8% to 90.2%.

The results are expected to provide a strong foundation to help the company meet the production guidance of 405,000 to 445,000 ounces for the current year.

Commenting on the results, Ron Hochstein, President and CEO, Lundin Gold said that the company has made a strong start to 2022. The all-time high number of gold ounces were produced despite shutdown of the mill for several days in March for relining of both the SAG and ball mills. The company will continue to focus on improving the operating performance at Fruta del Norte for many years to come, he added.
