SHARJAH,UAE: In connection with the National Environment day, a residential recycling program has been launched in Sharjah on Monday.
Bee'ah, the Middle East’s leading integrated and award winning environmental and waste management company and Sharjah municipality has together rolled out the program.
The program aims to reduce the amount of waste from going into the landfills and increases the level of recycling. It empowers residents to recycle wastes at home.
Dual coloured waste bins, blue and green will be kept outside each home in the city. The general waste will be deposited in the green bin while other wastes like paper, glass, cardboard, aluminium etc will go into the blue bin.
H.E. Salim Al Owais,Chairman of Bee’ah, said that with the residential recycling program the percentage of waste going into the landfills will drastically reduce.
Mr. Khaled Al Huraimel, Chief Executive Officer of Bee’ah said that this is the first of the kind in the MiddleEast.
He added,”Bee’ah’s residential recycling programme will commence today in planned phases, serving sector by sector. We have a goal to get this scheme rolled out by the end of 2012, but if all goes to plan we could see 75% of residents in Sharjah benefiting from it as early as July.”
Bee' ah has acquired all new collection and cleaning vehicles from Europe to ensure higher efficiency and better collection operation throughout the city of Sharjah.
Volunteers will be appointed to give training for the residents along with a extensive media campaign with the title “Separate, it’s already a habit”.
