July 31, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Declined Sharply on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): As of Thursday, July 31, 2025, Chinese copper scrap prices declined sharply on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Aluminum, Stainless Steel and Brass/Bronze scrap prices dropped when compared with the previous day. In the meantime, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices were down by CNY 850 per MT over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also declined by CNY 850 per MT each.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices registered a decline of CNY 400 per MT upon comparison with the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices recorded a downward movement of CNY 150 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer scrap prices witnessed a decline of CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Cu Yokes and Harness Wire 35% Recovery scrap prices also were down by CNY 50 per MT each.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap prices inched lower by CNY 150 per MT.

Heater Cores prices declined by CNY 350 per MT as of Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices were down marginally by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions declined by CNY 50 per MT in prices over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots also were down by CNY 50 per MT.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers witnessed no variation on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices inched lower by CNY 50 per MT.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices dropped by CNY 50 per MT each as of July 31, 2025.

The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF held steady from the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of July 31, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices were down by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

304 SS Solid prices too dropped by CNY 100 per MT when matched with the previous day.

The price of 304 SS Turning recorded a decline of CNY 100 per MT on the Index.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices dipped by CNY 150 per MT each when compared with the prior day.

310 SS scrap prices recorded a fall of CNY 200 per MT as of July 31, 2025.

Shred SS prices also were down by CNY 100 per MT over the previous day’s price.        

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded a decline.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were down by CNY 100 per MT as of July 31, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices too dropped by CNY 150 per MT each on the Index.
