J.D. Irving Announces $1 Million Donation to Nature Conservancy of Canada Campaign

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The New Brunswick, Canada-headquartered J.D. Irving, Ltd., has made a significant and generous donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). The company donated $1 million to NCC’s national Landmark Campaign on the occasion of National Wildlife Week celebrations.

J.D. Irving has supported NCC for many years. The recent donation brings the company’s total contributions of cash and land to more than $5 million. The company has given thousands of acres of forest land to NCC for conservation. This includes over 3,600 hectares of ecologically significant land in southwest NS and a property at the Musquash Estuary, near Saint John, New Brunswick.

The donation is expected to lend a hand to NCC in its efforts to conserve more habitat for wildlife. It will help NCC to secure at least 500 new land conservation projects and 10 large-scale signature land conservation projects across Canada. The fund will also be utilized to fund conservation science and research projects, student internships and volunteer programs.

John Lounds, President and CEO, NCC expressed gratitude to J.D. Irving, Limited for the outstanding contribution. The donation will help NCC protect more habitat and at-risk species, connect more Canadians to nature and inspire the next generation of conservation leaders, he added. Meantime, James D. Irving, Co-Chief Executive Officer of J.D. Irving, Limited stated that the donation testifies the company’s long-standing partnership with NCC.
