Turkish HRC exports surged higher in Sep '14: TUIK

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The exports of hot rolled coils (HRC) from the country soared higher during the month of September this year, as per the most recent export statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey’s HRC exports totaled 113,333 tons during the month. The exports in September ‘14 witnessed sharp rise of 163% over the year. Also, the exports were up by 51% when compared with those during the previous month.

According to TUIK, there was a corresponding jump in export value generated by HRC exports during the month of September. The HRC export value during the month totaled $65.9 million. The export value surged 169% upon comparison with the export value during the same month previous year. When compared with those during August ‘14, the HRC export revenues were up by 47% in September this year.

The combined HRC exports during the initial nine months of the year totaled 957,710 tons. However, the exports during the period were down 9% when compared with the corresponding nine-month period in 2013.

The largest destination of Turkish HRC exports during January to September this year was the US. The Turkish exports to the US totaled 316,655 tons in September. The second largest importer of Turkish HRC was Italy. The Turkish exports to Italy totaled 110,573 tons. In third place was Portugal with total imports of 53,468 tons during the initial nine-month period of the year.
