Turkey's June '14 HRC exports surged 30%, says TUIK

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The exports of hot rolled coils (HRC) from the country increased sharply during the month of June this year, indicates the most recent export statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey’s HRC exports totaled 137,141 tons during the month. The exports in June ‘14 witnessed sharp rise of 30.6% over the year. Also, the exports were up by 30.1% when compared with those during the previous month.

According to TUIK, there was a corresponding jump in export value generated by HRC exports during the month of June. The HRC export value during the month totaled $79.7 million. The export value surged 27.2% upon comparison with the export value during the same month previous year. When compared with those during May ‘14, the HRC export revenues were up by 29.1% in June this year.

The combined HRC exports during the initial six months of the year totaled 683,680 tons. However, the exports during the period were down 21.1% when compared with the corresponding six-month period in 2013.

The largest destination of Turkish HRC exports during H1 2014 was the US. The Turkish exports to the US totaled 172,420 tons in June. The second largest importer of Turkish HRC was Italy. The Turkish exports to Italy totaled 95,660 tons. In third place was Portugal with total imports of 53,470 tons during June ‘14.
