SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): According to most recent statistics released by the Brazili’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), the country’s exports of hot rolled coils (HRC) remained robust during the month of June this year. However, the average export prices fell significantly over the previous year.
Brazil’s HRC exports totaled 88,000 tons during the month of June this year. The HRC export prices averaged at $558 per ton FOB, 8% down when compared with the average export prices during the same month a year ago.
The country’s HRC exports to the US totaled 29,000 tons, accounting for over one-third of the total exports by Brazil. The export prices averaged at $582 per ton FOB.
Brazil exported 42,000 tons of hot rolled coils to Asian countries during June ‘14. The average export prices of these shipments were $525 per ton.
The country’s HRC exports to Latin American countries totaled 17,000 tons, with export prices averaging at $599 per ton.
