SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading precious metals company Hochschild Mining plc. announced that it has achieved commercial production at its Mara Rosa gold mine in Goias state, Brazil, effective 13th May, 2024.
According to company press release, the processing plant has been operating at nearly 90% of its capacity in May this year. Also, it has achieved average recoveries of more than 80% during the month. It must be noted that the processing plant has a capacity of 7,000 tonnes per day (tpd).

The ramp-up process of the mine is in progress and is expected to reach completion by first half of the current year. The company expects to boost gold output during H2 2024. As per estimates, the mine is expected to produce around 83,000-93,000 ounces of gold per year, with prospects for further resource expansion in future.
Eduardo Landin, CEO, Hochschild Mining commented that achieving commercial production at Mara Rosa is a significant milestone for the company. It was able to deliver the production milestone ahead of its end-H1 2024 forecast. The new jurisdiction will provide significant boost to the company’s planned low-cost growth in Brazil.
The Mara Rosa gold mine has already begun contributing to the company’s portfolio, the news release noted.
