Hecla Mining's Gold Output Hit Highest Level in History

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Idaho-based Hecla Mining posted record gold production during the previous year. The company’s 2019 gold production of 272,823 ounces was the highest in the company’s history. The production surged higher by 4% from the prior year. The Q4 ’19 gold production too was up by almost 5% to total 74,773 ounces.

According to preliminary production results announced yesterday, Hecla Mining generated 12.6 million ounces of silver in 2019, substantially higher by nearly 22% from 2018.

Phillips S. Baker, Jr., Hecla’s President and CEO noted that 2019 marked a year of higher metal production, strong cash flow generation and an improved balance sheet.

The Greens Creek mine produced 9.9 million ounces of silver and 56,624 ounces of gold in 2019. The southeast Alaska mine mainly contributed to the surge in silver production. The silver production from the mine was the highest since Hecla took over full ownership of the mine in 2008.

The Casa Berardi mine produced 134,409 ounces of gold. A total of 1.9 million ounces of silver and 15,673 ounces of gold were produced at the San Sebastian mine. The company’s Nevada operations produced 66,167 ounces of gold and 181,741 ounces of silver. The Lucky Friday mine’s silver output in 2019 totalled 625,432 ounces. Hecla Mining expects the mine to reach full production levels by end of the current year.
