NEW YORK (Scrap Monster): More than 1,300 automotive engineers and designers found that the value of reducing a vehicle’s weight has increased by 61 percent, according to a WardsAuto/DuPont survey.
On a five-point scale, aluminum tied for first as the material most helpful in reaching CAFE standards.
The study found that nearly half of the participating engineers felt that regulations on fuel economy and CO2 emissions in the U.S. and Europe will strengthen.
Aluminum offers efficiency advantages that both automakers and consumers alike can enjoy.
