It must be noted that the facility has processed more than 100 million pounds of plastic waste since its inception.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ExxonMobil announced successful launch of its second advanced plastics recycling unit in Baytown, Texas facility. This will double the company’s capacity to transform plastic waste into useful raw materials.
Operating since late 2022, the first unit is complemented by the second. It should be mentioned that since its establishment, the plant has processed over 100 million pounds of plastic garbage.
The business pointed out that, in contrast to conventional mechanical recycling techniques, advanced recycling can handle a greater variety of plastic trash. It turns waste plastic into raw materials that can be used to make a variety of useful goods. Furthermore, by repurposing plastic trash that would otherwise end up in landfills or incinerators, advanced recycling contributes significantly to the development of a circular economy for plastics.
ExxonMobil is to invest over $200 million to enhance its sophisticated recycling processes at its locations in Baytown and Beaumont, Texas. It is anticipated that the proposed extra units will start operations the following year. The company's overall processing capacity will reach 500 million pounds annually with the proposed investments, which will increase the advanced recycling capacity at these sites by 350 million pounds annually.
