The connectivity of the Tulsa Port of Inola to the Mississippi River system is expected to provide for efficient bulk freight movement.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based world’s leading premium aluminum producer, Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA), announced significant progress in building its first new primary aluminium production plant in the U.S. The proposed plant in Oklahoma would be the first since 1980.
The main aluminum production facility will be in Oklahoma, pending the completion of a competitive long-term power supply for the facility as well as state and local tax credit and investment incentives, the business announced in a news release. According to reports, the business is negotiating with the Oklahoma government and Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO).
Following a feasibility study, the plant's construction is anticipated to start by the end of 2026. About $4 billion will be invested by EGA in the project's development. By the end of 2030, the facility should be able to create its first hot metal. At its busiest, the factory is anticipated to provide up to 4,000 construction jobs in the area. Up to 1,000 direct, permanent local jobs will be created on-site when the factory opens.
An exclusive land option deal for a location in the Tulsa Port of Inola industrial park has already been signed by EGA. It is anticipated that effective bulk freight transportation will be made possible by the Tulsa Port of Inola's connection to the Mississippi River system.
