DS Smith Announced Opening of New Facility in  Morocco

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith Tecnicarton announced plans to open a new new production center in Kenitra, Morocco, thus reinforcing its position in the North African country. The proposed plant is expected to become operational during the second quarter of the current year.

The new plant would focus on development of packaging solutions using different materials, primarily for leading vehicle manufacturers as well as for the automotive ancillary industry. Since 2014, the company operates a factory in Tangier, Morocco which mainly produces multi-material packaging solutions for the automotive industry.

The company press release stated that the plant will also comprise of a textile handling center, aimed at developing projects that require interior fittings and a design area with increased capabilities with the incorporation of the new plotter device.

Antonio Cebrian, Commercial Director, DS Smith Tecnicarton said that the company has been confident about the potential of Morocco in generating new business opportunities, it being an increasingly relevant industrial center. The company’s increased presence in the country contributes to higher levels of competitiveness and further allow the company to diversify into other sectors such as aeronautics, he added.

Incidentally, DS Smith Tecnicarton designs tailor-made and multi-material packaging solutions for industrial products.
