Drax Group Started New Pellet Plant at Demopolis in Alabama

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Drax Group- the world’s largest producer and consumer of sustainable biomass announced opening of its new pellet plant at Demopolis in Alabama. This is Drax’s second production facility in Alabama, after the pellet plant at Aliceville in Pickens County. Including Demopolis, the company now operates seven pellet plants in the U.S. South.

The company had invested over $100 million in the new pellet plant. It employed around 350 people during the construction phase. At full capacity, the plant is expected to produce approximately 360,000 tonnes of sustainable biomass pellets per year from sawmill residues such as sawdust, chips and shavings.
