Dana Steel to Set Up First-of-its-Kind Modern Steel Facility in Dubai

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Dana Steel UAE, a division of Dana Group, has announced major expansion plans in the Middle East. The company will set up a state-of-the-art CRM facility in Dubai, UAE, the works of which are currently under progress. The steel project is expected to become fully operational by July this year.

According to Dr B.S.Dana, Chairman of Dana Group of Companies, the addition of the new steel complex will help the company meet the increasing demand from Middle East manufacturing sector. Further, it will strengthen Dana Steel’s position as a prominent Flat Steel Products player in the entire Middle East region.

As part of the project, the company will set up a 250,000 tpa Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL). The line will employ latest Dual Pot Technology, thereby allowing it to manufacture hot-dipped galvanized and aluzinc coils in the same production line. The line will also feature the state-of-the-art Vertical Non-Ox Furnace (NOF) Technology.

Also, the steel complex will set up a Continuous Color Coating Line (CCL) employing the latest Korean hot lamination technology. This is the first such coating line in the whole of Middle East, the company noted. The line will have an installed production capacity of 150,000 Mt per year of prepainted galvanized, prepainted aluzinc and prepainted aluminumcoils.

The decision to construct the modern steel complex in Dubai is part of its strategic plans, especially at a time when the UAE government is planning to raise tariffs on steel products imported from China. Such an action by the government may curtail flow of cheap steel from China and boost the demand for local steel.

The facility is located at Dubai Industrial City (DIC), Dubai, UAE, just about 35 kilometers from the Jebel Ali Seaport.
