TORONTO (Scrap Monster): On Thursday, June 4, 2026, North American scrap metal prices showed a mixed performance on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Copper and Brass/Bronze prices recorded an increase. Aluminum and stainless steel scrap prices declined, while steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.
Copper: Modest rise
Aluminum: Edged lower
Brass/Bronze: Saw a jump in prices
Stainless Steel: Recorded decline
Steel: Flat trend
The price of Alternator scrap recorded no variation over the previous day.
The prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper- Light Copper were up by $0.06 per Lb on the Index.
The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery were up by $0.01 per Lb each on the Index.
Copper Radiator scrap prices edged higher by $0.02 per Lb.
Copper Transformer scrap prices held steady on the Index.
Cu Yokes prices were flat over the previous day’s prices.
Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices were unchanged as of June 4, 2026.
Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Romex Wire prices saw a jump of $0.01 per Lb each on the Index.
The prices of Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed units, and Xmas Lights were unmoved from the previous day’s price levels.
1100 scrap prices declined by $0.02 per lb on the day.
Prices for 3003 scrap, 356 aluminum wheels, and 6063 extrusions/Fe also fell by $0.02 per lb on the Index. Similarly, 6063 extrusions recorded a decrease of $0.02 per lb compared with the previous day.
In addition, 5052 scrap and 6061 extrusions dropped by $0.02 per lb each over the prior day.
Meanwhile, prices for Al/Cu radiators and Al/Cu radiators/Fe remained unchanged. Also, aluminum radiators, aluminum radiators/Fe and aluminum transformers held steady.
Breakage 50% recovery prices slipped by $0.01 per lb. Chrome wheels posted a sharper decline of $0.02 per lb as of June 4, 2026.
E.C. aluminum wire prices decreased by $0.02 per lb. Litho sheets and MLC clips also fell by $0.02 per lb each.
Mixed aluminum turnings were down by $0.01 per lb. Prices for old cast and UBC declined by $0.02 per lb, while old sheet, painted siding, and Zorba 90% NF also recorded similar decreases.

304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning and 309 SS witnessed a decline of $0.01 per Lb in prices as of June 4, 2026.
310 SS prices recorded a dip of $0.02 per Lb from the previous day’s level.
330 SS prices were down by $0.03 per Lb on the Index.
Also, 316 SS Solid prices reported a downward movement of $0.01 per Lb on the Index.
The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region recorded an increase on the Index.
70/30 Brass Scrap: Edged higher by $0.01 per Lb
80/20 Brass Scrap: Up by $0.01 per Lb
85/15 Brass Scrap: Saw a jump of $0.01 per Lb on a daily basis
Brass Radiator: Increased by $0.01 per Lb
Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends maintained the previous day's price levels as of June 4, 2026.
In the meantime, Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass prices were up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index.
The market delivered mixed results, with copper and brass/bronze prices increasing, aluminum and stainless steel prices declining, and steel scrap prices remaining stable.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper-Light Copper each increased by $0.06 per pound.
Aluminum scrap prices generally weakened, with most grades declining by $0.02 per pound and a few categories posting smaller losses of $0.01 per pound.
