By TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The prices of a few scrap categories in the North American region recorded a decline on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Thursday, August 20, 2025. Steel scrap prices witnessed a mixed trend. Copper and Aluminum scrap prices registered a marginal decline, whereas Stainless Steel and Brass/Bronze scrap prices remained stable on the Index.
Copper Scrap Prices
Alternator prices held steady on the Index.
The prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #1 Copper Bare Bright edged lower by $ 0.01 per Lb.
The #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices witnessed no variation over the previous day. Meanwhile, #3 Copper-Light copper prices inched lower by $0.01 per Lb.
The prices of Copper Radiator scrap, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Romex Wire, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed units, and Xmas Lights held steady on the Index.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6063 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions prices edged lower by $0.01 per Lb over the day.
The prices of Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, and Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices remained unchanged on the Index.
E.C Aluminum Wire prices were down by $0.02 per Lb on the Index.
Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF prices dipped by $0.01 per Lb from the previous day’s price levels.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 Bundle and #1 Busheling prices recorded a jump of $5 per MT each on the Index.
The prices of #1 HMS, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel inched lower by $5 per MT each from the previous day.
HMS 80/20 and Sheet Metal prices held steady on the Index.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, and 304 SS Turning prices reported no change.
Also, 309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid prices saw no change from the previous day.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed no change.
70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator scrap prices were flat on the Index.
Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices maintained the previous day's price levels.
Also, Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass prices held steady on the Index.
