North American copper scrap prices showed a mixed trend on the Index, with several grades registering declines while others remained unchanged.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal values were broadly stable on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Monday, September 7, 2026. However, several copper scrap categories and E.C. Aluminum Wire registered modest downward movements.
Copper: Prices edged down across select grades.
Aluminum: The decline was limited to E.C. Aluminum Wire.
Brass/Bronze: Prices remained unchanged.
Stainless Steel: No day-over-day movement was recorded.
Steel: Values continued to follow a flat trend.
North American copper scrap prices showed a mixed trend on the Index, with several grades registering declines while others remained unchanged.
Alternator Scrap prices were unchanged from the previous day. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing each recorded a decrease of $0.02 per lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright also slipped by $0.02 per lb.
Both #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery maintained their previous-day levels. Meanwhile, #3 Copper–Light Copper prices fell by $0.02 per lb.
No movement was recorded for Copper Radiator Scrap, Copper Transformer Scrap, or Cu Yokes. Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe likewise remained unchanged.
The Index also showed stable pricing for Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Romex Wire, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units, and Xmas Lights, with none of these categories registering a day-over-day change.
North American aluminum scrap prices largely maintained their previous-day levels, with most grades showing no movement on the Index.
1100 Scrap and 3003 Scrap remained unchanged. Prices for 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe also held steady, while 6063 Extrusions recorded no day-over-day variation.
Similarly, 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions continued at their prior-day values. Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe also remained stable, as did Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe.
No price movement was reported for Aluminum Transformers or Breakage 50% Recovery. The only decline among the listed grades came from E.C. Aluminum Wire, which slipped by $0.01 per lb.
Meanwhile, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF all retained their previous-day Index prices.
North American ferrous scrap prices remained unchanged across the major grades tracked on the Index.
#1 Bundle and #1 Busheling continued at their previous price levels, showing no day-over-day movement. #1 HMS and HMS 80/20 likewise recorded stable pricing.
There was also no change in the Index values for Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel, indicating a broadly steady market.
The North American stainless steel scrap market remained stable on the Index, with no price adjustments reported across the listed grades.
Both 201 SS and 301 SS maintained their previous-day price levels. 304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning also showed no movement.
The same trend extended to 309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid, all of which continued to trade at their respective prior-day Index values.
North American brass and bronze scrap values remained unchanged on the Index, with no movement recorded from the previous session.
Prices for 70/30 Brass, 80/20 Brass, 85/15 Brass, and Brass Radiators were unchanged from the preceding day.
Likewise, Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends maintained their previous price levels.
The Index also showed stability across Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass, with none of these categories registering a price adjustment.
Copper scrap prices showed a mildly weaker trend. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper–Light Copper each declined by $0.02 per lb. However, most other tracked copper categories, including insulated wire, radiators, transformers, and electric motors, remained unchanged.
