North American Copper Scrap Drops, Steel and EC Aluminum Wire Rises on the Index- October 21, 2026

MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal buying benchmarks witnessed a mixed trend on Wednesday, October 21, on the ScrapMonster Price Index.

#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire & Tubing, #2 Copper Wire & Tubing and #3 Copper-Light Copper each fell ↓3¢/lb.

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices inched up by $0.01 per lb.

Steel scrap prices jumped, while stainless steel and brass/bronze scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #3 Copper-Light Copper each fell 3¢/lb.

Copper Radiator Scrap prices reported no change on the Index.

Alternator Scrap, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery were unchanged.

Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units and Xmas Lights also held their previous-day levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

E.C. Aluminum Wire was the only category to report variation in price over the previous day’s prices. The commodity posted a $0.01 per Lb jump in prices.

1100 Scrap prices remained flat over the day. The prices of 3003 Scrap were flat on the Index. The prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe were also unchanged.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions held steady over the day.

In the meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions remained flat when compared with the prior day.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe remained unchanged over the day. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe prices held steady. Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices remained unchanged on the Index.

Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, and MLC Clips held steady at the previous day’s price levels.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF prices also were unchanged.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, HMS 80/20, and Sheet Metal prices recorded a jump of $10 per MT each.

#1HMS, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel also increased by $15 per MT each on the Index when compared with the previous day.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel remained unchanged across every listed grade.

201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices were flat on the Index.

Also, 310 SS and 330 SS recorded no variation from the previous day’s prices.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed no change on the Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator scrap prices were unchanged on the Index.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices held steady when compared with the previous day's price levels.

Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass prices were also flat on the Index.
