Copper Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- July 4, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (June 27 to July 3, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.

North America Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region recorded mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities edged higher, while the remaining maintained prior week’s price levels.

The biggest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Xmas Lights, whose prices edged higher by 3.45% from $0.29 per Lb to $0.30 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record notable increase in prices include Alternator and Copper Transformer Scrap, which recorded price increases by 2.22% and 1.96% respectively.

The other copper scrap categories to witness jump in prices include #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, and Cu Yokes.

The rest of the copper scrap categories held steady on the Index during the week ended July 3, 2025.

 

USA East Coast Prices

The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed notable jump in the region. Xmas Lights prices posted the biggest increase over the week.

The prices of Alternator and Copper Transformers Scrap too increased significantly over the week.

The weekly price chart of Alternator, whose prices edged higher from $0.45 per Lb to $0.46 per Lb, is provided below:

 

Also, the prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, and Cu Yokes recorded increase as of the week ended July 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units and Starters held steady over the previous week.

 

USA Midwest Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region witnessed mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities edged higher.

The largest increase in prices over the prior week was witnessed in Xmas Lights, whose prices edged higher from $0.28 per Lb to $0.29 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record notable increase in prices include Alternator and Copper Transformer Scrap, which recorded price increases by 2.27% and 2.0% respectively.

 The prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, and Cu Yokes witnessed increase week-on-week.

The weekly price movement for #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery is shown in the below chart:

 

 

USA West Coast Prices

The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed notable jump in the region. Xmas Lights prices posted the biggest increase over the week.

The prices of Alternator and Copper Transformer Scrap too increased significantly over the week.

Also, the prices of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #3 Copper- Light Copper, #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Copper Radiators, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Romex Wire, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, and  Cu Yokes recorded increase during the week.

In contrast, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units and Starters witnessed no change in prices during the previous week.

China Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities recorded increase over the previous week.

Heater Cores prices edged higher by 1.09% week-on-week to close at CNY 32,500 per MT during the week. 

The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also were up by 0.87%, when compared with the week before.

The #1 Copper Wire and Tubing prices recorded jump, rising from the previous week by 0.86% as of July 3, 2025. The weekly price chart of the commodity for the week is given below:

 

The other commodities to record increase in prices include #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units.

 

India Prices

The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded increase, upon comparison with the previous week.

The Copper sheet cutting prices recorded week-on-week jump by 3.56%.

The copper heavy scrap and copper armeture scrap prices recorded increase, with the prices of both commodities recording jump by 1.86%. The weekly chart depicting the price movement in Copper armeture is provided below:

 

The prices of copper cable scrap and copper utensil scrap also inched higher on the Scrap Monster Index by 1.84% each. 

Also, the prices of Copper wire bars (HCL *) increased by 1.81% during the week ending July 3, 2025.

Europe Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes held steady during the course of the week.

 

LME Copper Market Update

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 10,015.00 per tonne as of July 3, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract prices increased marginally from $10,045.00 a day before to $10,120.00 per tonne.

The LME Copper stocks saw marginal increase over the previous day to close at 94,325 tonnes of July 3, 2025, when compared with 93,250 tonnes a day before.
