SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) declared that work has begun on a new pilot plastic waste recycling facility at Jabi, which is located in the Central Nigerian federal area.
The project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The plant's construction is being carried out by FEM-FASH Global Resources Ltd. After construction is finished, the plant will be turned over to Chanja Datti, a renowned waste management business, who will be in charge of running and maintaining the establishment.

After the site's civil works are finished, UNIDO will supply the equipment for collecting plastic, according to Mr. Charles Uzoma, UNIDO Project Field Coordinator. The gathered plastics will be delivered to processing facilities after undergoing additional processing, such as crushing or bailing.
The project, which is the first of its kind in Abuja, shows how well the public and private sectors work together. The Japanese government is funding two initiatives, including the pilot. In Lagos, the second project is presently underway as well.
Nigeria will be able to lessen its plastic pollution thanks to the pilot recycling facility.
