TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) suggests that the country’s shipment of cold rolled coils (CRC) declined during the initial eight-month period of the year.
As per JISF data, CRC shipments by Japan totaled 4.23 million tons during January to August this year, 3.9% lower when compared with the shipments during the corresponding eight-month period a year ago. The country’s CRC shipments had totaled 4.40 million tons during Jan-Aug ’13. The shipments to domestic market accounted for 81% of the total shipments. The balance 19% was shipped to export destinations.
The shipments during the month of August alone dropped sharply over the previous month. The monthly shipment during the month totaled 462,997 tons, down 11.2% upon comparison with shipments during July this year.
The total CRC inventories by Japan as on August totaled 740,107 tons, going higher by 13% when compared with July ’14 inventory levels.
