The Royal Canadian Mint has issued the third coin of their popular “Banknotes of Canada” series.

OTTAWA (Scrap Monster): The Royal Canadian Mint has issued the third coin of their popular “Banknotes of Canada” series.

The new coin depicts striking portrait of a lion taken from an early twentieth century vignette created by the British American Banknote Company on the reverse of the coin.

The reverse design of the coin shows the lion being brought to life in painstaking detail as Royal Canadian Mint engravers capture the characteristic line engraving of early banknote design.

The obverse of the coin carries the current portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II which is used on all Canadian coins since 2003.

The mintage capacity of the coin is limited to 8500 pieces and the denomination of the coin is 5 Dollars.
