Codelco said that it has achieved 100% of its plan to achieve increased sales of refined copper in the Southeast region in 2022, but declined to provide details of the deals.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): State-owned Chiliean copper producer, Codelco, announced that it has successfully concluded its sales plan for the upcoming year in Southeast Asia, by signing multi-year contracts with various parties.

The statement issued by the company said that it was successful in generating positive figures in 2021. The statement pointed to exceeding its sales estimate for 2022 and satisfactorily fulfilling its plan to enter Southeast Asia markets. It must be noted that Codelco had expressed interest in Indian market, as part of its strategy to reduce its dependence on Chinese market.

Codelco said that it has achieved 100% of its plan to achieve increased sales of refined copper in the Southeast region in 2022, but declined to provide details of the deals. The plans were successfully executed in several countries in the region, including China, Taiwan and South Korea. It must be noted that the company had announced plans to open office in Singapore, with the aim of quadrupling its sales in the region by 2023.

Carlos Alvarado, Vice President of Marketing, Codelco noted that the firm was also able to maintain its number of customers in Europe.

The company expects refined copper consumption in Southeast Asian countries to witness sustainable growth over the next couple of decades.
