SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading copper recycler Aurubis has partnered with CODELCO- the world’s leading copper producer to boost innovations to drive sustainability efforts in copper industry. The combined efforts will target to reduce the industry’s environmental footprints.
The new collaboration is expected to deliver short, medium and long-term impacts. Both the partners will periodically assess the success achieved, which in turn will create the foundation for further cooperation.
In the short term, more than fifteen projects are being planned for safeguarding health and environmental protection, which includes steps for further lowering of emissions from various copper production processes. An expert exchange program will be held in April this year, which will help each other to improve their understanding of a sustainable supply chain. As part of the agreement, the two companies have also agreed to share their experience related to The Copper Mark.
Roland Harings, CEO, Aurubis said that the partnership with Codelco is unique in the industry and an open invitation to all stakeholders of the copper supply chain to join hands to work towards the transformation of the industry, which is currently facing huge challenges.
