SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Toronto, Canada-headquartered Barrick Gold Corporation announced that both of its Tanzanian mines are on track to meet their production targets in 2021. It must be noted that the company operates North Mara and Bulyanhulu gold mines in the East African country.
Speaking to local media, Mark Bristow, President and CEO, Barrick Gold noted that the production ramp-up at Bulyanhulu is gaining momentum. The plant performance is ahead of expectations and recoveries stand at a consistent rate of 93%. The recent investment in three fully automated loaders and three additional drills has contributed to 11% rise in tonnage. The mine plan is expected to unlock further value, mainly on account of successful conversion and optimization of mineral resources in the upper portion of Deep West, he added.
Barrick Gold expects to commission new brine treatment plant at North Mara during the last quarter of the year. The project, also comprising of a new water treatment plant and an upgraded tailings facility, will eliminate the mine’s historic environmental issues. It has already redesigned the two open pits at North Mara and integrated them with the underground mine.
