ArcelorMittal Poland Attained ResponsibleSteel Certification

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ArcelorMittal Poland announced that it has earned the prestigious ResponsibleSteel certification, the industry’s first global multi-stakeholder standard and certification programme. The rigorous audit carried out by DNV Poland confirmed that the business fulfilled all the criteria required to earn certification against the ResponsibleSteel Standard. The business is among the first in Eastern Europe to have received the certification.

The audits verified whether the site’s activities conform to a set of rigorously defined requirements, which are validated on the basis of received documents and a number of interviews with internal and external stakeholders. The evaluation is based on a broad range of social and environmental criteria split into 12 principles.

Commenting on the certification, Sanjay Samaddar, chairman of ArcelorMittal Poland stated that the certificate is a great recognition for the company and its stakeholders. It acknowledges the activities directed towards its employees, communities and sustainable development. Furthermore, it is a proof of responsible management, he added.

Earlier in May this year, ArcelorMittal sites in its Asturias Cluster in Spain, and ArcelorMittal Mediterranee in France had achieved ResponsibleSteel certification.
