SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Anglo American announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsubishi Materials Corporation to focus on responsible copper value chain.
The collaboration between the two companies will concentrate on driving traceability across entire copper value chain. It will identify and measure all relevant sustainability indicators to help all stakeholders secure easy and hassle-free access to relevant information about product provenance. Both the companies will jointly work towards exploring decarbonisation opportunities in order to ensure maximum reduction of overall carbon footprint of the metal delivered to customers.
Commenting on the collaboration, Paul Ward, Executive Head of Base Metals Marketing at Anglo American noted that it is part of its efforts to extend the impact of its commitment to create ethical value chains for its products. The association with Mitsubishi Materials will help to boost provenance visibility for materials, he added.
The cooperation with Anglo American will promote the company’s efforts to ensure transparency of product information and its strong credentials, said Nobuhiro Takayanagi, Managing Executive Officer Responsible for Sustainable Development at Mitsubishi Materials Corporation.
