SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide aluminum scrap metal markets for the past one-week period (January 10 to January 16, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The regional aluminum scrap prices witnessed increase over the prior week. However, a few commodities held steady.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions/Fe, reported the largest increase on the Index. Mixed Aluminum Turnings, and 6061 Extrusions.
Prices for 6063 Extrusions/Fe increased by 4.69% from the previous week. From $0.64 per pound at the beginning of the week, prices increased by $0.03 per pound to close at $0.67 per pound on the Index.

The price of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6061 Extrusions increased as well, by 4.55% and 4.48%, respectively.
The only aluminum scrap commodities to maintain previous week price levels were Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, and Aluminum Transformers.
The regional scrap aluminum prices mostly edged higher when compared with the prior week. The top three gainers were 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, and 6061 Extrusions.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, Zorba 90% NF, Breakage 50% Recovery and Chrome Wheels also recorded increase over the previous week.
In the meantime, Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers prices held steady over the prior week.
The prices reported increase when compared with the week before.
The price of 6063 Extrusions/Fe increased 4.76% during the course of the week, from $0.63 per pound at the start of the week to $0.66 per pound at the close.
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings increased by 4.65% on a weekly basis, from $0.43 per pound to $0.45 per pound in the week that ended on January 16, 2025. Below is the weekly price chart for the commodity:
6061 Extrusions prices were up by 4.55% on a weekly basis.
All other scrap categories saw price increases during the course of the week, with the exception of Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers.
The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories, except a few, posted week-on-week jump.
6063 Extrusions/Fe, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, and 6061 Extrusions recorded the highest jump in prices during the week.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions/Fe on the Index closed at $0.68 per pound, up $0.03 per pound. The commodity saw an increase of 4.62% in price week over week.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices increased from $0.44 per Lb at the beginning of the week to close at $0.46 per Lb.
Prices for 6061 Extrusions increased by 4.48% from the previous week. The commodity's price increased from $0.67 per Lb to $0.70 per Lb over the previous week. The weekly price movement for 6061 Extrusions is seen in the chart below:
Breakage 50% Recovery witnessed the least increase, with prices recording nominal week-on-week rise by 2.78%.
In the meantime, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers held steady upon comparison with the previous week’s price.
The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported marginal increase in prices during the week ending January 16, 2025.
Old Cast and Old Sheet recorded biggest increase in prices. The prices of both these commodities recorded a jump of 0.85% each.
Old Cast prices were up by CNY 150 per MT over the previous week. The below chart depicts the weekly price variation in the prices of the commodity.

Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, UBC, Zorba 90% NF, 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, and Aluminum Ingots prices also registered marginal jump in prices when compared with the week before.
The Aluminum ingots prices witnessed a jump of 3.27% from the prior week’s prices. The weekly price chart of Aluminum ingots is provided below:
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices also were up by 3.39% week-on-week, closing at INR 244,000 per Ton on the ScrapMonster Index.
The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,637.50 per tonne as of January 16, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract recorded marginal increase from $2,562.00 a day before to $2,628.00 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined modestly over the previous day to close at 611,875 tonnes as of January 16, 2025, as compared with 614,375 tonnes a day before.
