SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide aluminum scrap metal markets for the past one-week period (May 2-8, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The regional aluminum scrap prices mostly remained unchanged over the prior week. Only a few commodities recorded decline.
Breakage 50% Recovery recorded the largest decline on the Index. The prices of the commodity registered a decline of 2.78% over the week. The graph provided below depicts the weekly price movement in Breakage 50% Recovery:
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices were down marginally by 2.22% over the previous week. The commodity’s price closed the week at $0.44 per Lb, falling by $0.01 per Lb from the week’s opening price of $0.45 per Lb. Also, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were down by 0.92% week-on-week.
6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, and 3003 Scrap prices witnessed no change from the prior week.
There was no variation in prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Radiators/Fe.
Also, Aluminum Transformers and Chrome Wheels held steady on the Index during the week ended May 8, 2025.
No change in price was seen in MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF.
The regional scrap aluminum prices recorded no variation in prices, except for E.C. Aluminum Wire, Breakage 50% Recovery, and Mixed Aluminum Turnings.
The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded a decline from $1.09 per Lb to close the week at $1.08 per Lb. The commodity’s prices registered week-on-week decline by 0.92%.
Meanwhile, the prices of Breakage 50% Recovery and Mixed Aluminum Turnings recorded a decline of 2.78% and 2.22% respectively.
The prices of all other scrap aluminum commodities in the region held steady.
Only three scrap commodities in the region witnessed decline in prices during the week ended May 8, 2025.
The commodities to register weekly dip in prices were Breakage 50% Recovery, E.C. Aluminum Wire, and Mixed Aluminum Turnings.
The prices of all other commodities were flat on the Index.
The scrap commodities that remained constant during the week included 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF.

The scrap aluminum prices in the region recorded no variation in prices, except for a few categories.
The price of Breakage 50% Recovery recorded a decline from $0.37 per Lb to close the week at $0.36 per Lb. The commodity’s prices registered week-on-week decline by 2.70%. Also, the prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and E.C. Aluminum Wire dropped by 2.22% and 0.92% respectively.

The prices of all other scrap aluminum commodities in the region held steady.
The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported decline in prices during the week ending May 8, 2025.
Old Cast and Old Sheet prices declined the most, with prices of both the commodities falling by 1.71%.
The 6063 Extrusions prices also registered a decline of 1.69% during the previous week.
Aluminum Transformers prices dropped from CNY 9,000 per MT to CNY 8,850 per MT over the week.
The E.C. Aluminum Wire and Aluminum Radiators prices were down by 1.60% each.
Meanwhile, Zorba 90% NF prices ended the week at CNY 9,450 per MT, compared with CNY 9,600 per MT at the start of the week.
The least decline in prices was seen in UBC, whose prices were down by 1.23% during the week ended May 8, 2025. The below chart depicts the weekly price variation in the prices of the commodity:
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices were down week-on-week, recording a fall to INR 222,000 per Ton, compared with the previous week’s price of INR 223,000 per Ton on the ScrapMonster Index.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,389.00 per tonne as of May 8, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract recorded no change when compared with $2,363.50 per tonne a day before.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined modestly over the previous day to close at 405,575 tonnes as of May 8, 2025, as compared with 407,575 tonnes a day before.
