Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- May 2, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (April 24 to May 1, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index is provided below:

North America Prices

There was a general downward tendency in the prices. All scrap categories, except a few, recorded decline when compared with the previous week.

The largest price drop of the week was seen in Aluminum Radiators, which recorded a decrease from $0.29 per pound to $0.28 per pound. The commodity saw a 3.45% weekly price decrease.

The following chart shows the week-over-week price fluctuation for Aluminum Radiators:

Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and 6063 Extrusions/Fe also reported modest decline in price over the previous week, falling by 1.60% and 1.59%, respectively.

6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, Zorba 90% INF and Al/Cu Radiators prices reported decline over the previous week.

In contrast, prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery and Mixed Aluminum Turnings held steady over the previous week.

USA East Coast Prices

Aluminum Radiators prices recorded biggest dip over the week, registering 3.45% decline from $0.29 per Lb to $0.28 per Lb. Also, modest weekly declines by 1.60% and 1.59% were seen in Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.

The least decline was seen in 5052 Scrap. The prices of the commodity recorded a weekly decline of 1.01%, falling from $0.99 per Lb to $0.98 per Lb.

In the meantime, prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery and Mixed Aluminum Turnings were flat during the week ending May 1, 2025.

USA Midwest Prices

The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged lower over the previous week. The top three losers were Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.

The Aluminum Radiators prices ended the week at $0.27 per Lb, down from the previous week’s price of $0.28 per Lb by 3.57%.

Also, the week witnessed dip in prices of Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and 6063 Extrusions/Fe to $1.82 per Lb and $0.61 per Lb respectively.

The other commodities to register week-on-week dip in prices were 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, Zorba 90% INF and Al/Cu Radiators. 

USA West Coast Prices

The prices of the region’s majority of scrap aluminum categories fell week over week.

The scrap categories to dip the most were Aluminum Radiatorsand Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, whose prices recorded declines by 3.45% and 1.59% respectively over the previous week. 6063 Extrusions/Fe prices recorded fall from $0.64 per Lb to $0.63 per Lb.

In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, Zorba 90% INF and Al/Cu Radiators prices held steady when compared with the week before.

China Prices

The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported no change in prices during the week ending February 13, 2025.

6063 Extrusions prices held steady at CNY 17,700 per MT.

Also, Aluminum Radiators, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Aluminum Ingots and Aluminum Transformers prices held steady on the Index.

No change in prices were reported in Old Cast and Old Sheet, whose prices remained at CNY 17,500 per MT each on the Index.

The UBC prices were unchanged at CNY 12,200 per MT. The below chart depicts the weekly price variation in the prices of the commodity:

Also, Zorba 90% NF prices recorded no variation, maintaining the previous week’s price of CNY 9,600 per MT during the week ended May 1, 2025.

 India Prices

The prices of Aluminum utensil scrap saw a little decrease of 2.22%, falling from INR 225,000 per Ton to INR 220,000 a tonne during the week ending on May 1, 2025.

The prices of Aluminum ingots also were down by 0.85% during the week.

Europe Prices

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) held steady during the week.

LME Aluminum Market Update

The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,405.00 per tonne as of May 1, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract dropped slightly from $2,405.00 a day before to $2,377.50 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 413,575 tonnes on May 1, 2025, down slightly from 415,575 tonnes on April 30, 2025.
