Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- February 28, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide aluminum scrap metal markets for the past one-week period (February 21 to February 27, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:

North America Prices

The regional aluminum scrap prices mostly remained unchanged over the prior week. Only E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded variation on the Index. The prices of the commodity registered marginal decline over the week.

The E.C. Aluminum Wire were down marginally by 1.65% over the previous week. The commodity prices closed the week at $1.19 per Lb, falling by $0.02 per Lb from the week’s opening price of $1.21 per Lb. The graph provided below depicts the weekly price movement in E.C. Aluminum Wire:

6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, and 3003 Scrap prices witnessed no change from the prior week.

There was no variation in prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Radiators/Fe.

Also, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, and Chrome Wheels held steady on the Index during the week ended February 27, 2025.

No change in price was seen in Mixed Aluminum Turnings, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF.

USA East Coast Prices

The regional scrap aluminum prices recorded no variation in prices, except for E.C. Aluminum Wire.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded a decline from $1.21 per Lb to close the week at $1.19 per Lb. The commodity’s prices registered week-on-week decline by 1.65%.

The prices of all other scrap aluminum commodities in the region held steady.

USA Midwest Prices

Only E.C. Aluminum Wire witnessed decline in prices during the week ended February 27, 2025.

The prices of all other commodities were flat on the Index.

The scrap commodities that remained constant during the week included 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Radiators, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, Chrome Wheels, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, MLC Clips, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% NF

USA West Coast Prices

The scrap aluminum prices in the region recorded no variation in prices, except for E.C. Aluminum Wire.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded a decline from $1.21 per Lb to close the week at $1.19 per Lb. The commodity’s prices registered week-on-week decline by 1.65%.

The prices of all other scrap aluminum commodities in the region held steady.

China Prices

The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported decline in prices during the week ending February 27, 2025.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices declined the most, with prices of both the commodities falling by 0.82%.

The 6063 Extrusions prices also registered a decline of 0.81% during the previous week.

The E.C. Aluminum Wire and Aluminum Ingots prices were down by 0.77% and 0.72% respectively.

Aluminum Transformers prices dropped from CNY 9,350 per MT to CNY 9,300 per MT over the week. Meanwhile, Aluminum Radiators ended the week at CNY 9,800 per MT, compared with CNY 9,850 per MT at the start of the week.

The least decline in prices was seen in UBC, whose prices were down by 0.4% during the week ended February 27, 2025. The below chart depicts the weekly price variation in the prices of the commodity:

India Prices

The Aluminum utensil scrap prices were down week-on-week, recording a fall to INR 247,000 per Ton, compared with the previous week’s price of INR 256,000 per Ton on the ScrapMonster Index. 

The Aluminum ingots prices also recorded week-on-week decline of INR 9,000 per Ton during the previous week. The weekly price chart of Aluminum ingots scrap is provided below:  

Europe Prices

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.

LME Aluminum Market Update

The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,643.00 per tonne as of February 27, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract recorded marginal decline from $2,670.50 a day before to $2,655.00 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks declined modestly over the previous day to close at 525,425 tonnes as of February 27, 2025, as compared with 529,475 tonnes a day before.
