SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (29th March, 2024 to 4th April, 2024) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The prices witnessed notable increase over the prior week.
The prices of 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Breakage 50% Recovery surged the most.
The 6063 Extrusions/Fe prices recorded an increase by 6.35% over the previous week. The prices edged higher by $0.04 per Lb to close at $0.67 per Lb on Index. The chart below represents the price movement in 6063 Extrusions/Fe during the past week:
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Breakage 50% Recovery too witnessed notable surge, with prices going higher by 6.25% and 5.88% respectively.
A few scrap varieties such as Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers witnessed no change in prices over the prior week.
The regional scrap aluminum prices edged higher when compared with the prior week. The top three gainers were 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and Breakage 50% Recovery.
The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe prices recorded least surge. The prices of these commodities rose by 1.35% and 1.57% respectively.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers held steady on Index.
The prices reported significant increase when compared with the week before.
6063 Extrusions/Fe prices surged from $0.62 per Lb from the beginning of the week to close at $0.66 per Lb.
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices witnessed 6.25% weekly surge, witnessing a rise from $0.48 per Lb to $0.51 per Lb during the week ended 4th April, 2024.

The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories, except Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers posted week-on-week surge.
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices surged the most, followed by 6063 Extrusions/Fe and Breakage 50% Recovery.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices increased the most during the previous week.
Both the above two scrap categories saw their prices surge by CNY 150 per MT over the prior week, translating to a week-on-week surge of 0.87%.

The 6063 Extrusions prices too edged higher by 0.86%, rising from CNY 17,350 per MT during the previous week to CNY 17,500 per MT this week.
The least weekly increase in prices was reported in UBC, whose prices edged higher by 0.41% week-on-week.
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged higher from INR 200,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 212,000 per ton on 4th April, 2024. A similar increase by INR 12,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum ingots prices over the week.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) remained flat during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,440.00 per tonne as on 4th April, 2024. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged higher marginally from $2,334.00 a day before to $2,394.50 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 536,850 tonnes on 4th April, 2024, as compared with 541,350 a day before.
