The US imports and exports of brass mill products declined during the month of August this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to recent statistics released by the US Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports of brass mill products by the US dropped during the month of August this year. The exports too declined slightly.
According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during August this year totaled 38.136 million lb, sharply lower by 15% when compared with 44.748 million lb imports registered during August 2014.
The main exporter of brass mill products to the US during August ‘15 was Germany. The total imports from Germany during the month totaled 9.278 million lb. Mexico followed Germany with total exports to US amounting to 4.747 million lb. In third place was South Korea. The brass mill products imports by the US from South Korea totaled 4.558 million lb. Imports from Canada totaled 4.009 million lb during the month.
Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 12.355 million lb in August. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 13.349 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9.496 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 2.936 million lb.
The cumulative imports of brass mill products during the initial eight-month period of the year totaled 343.121 million lb, lower by 5.1% when matched with the imports of 361.641 million lb during Jan-August ’14.
In accordance with the data released by the CBFC, the US exports of brass mill products totaled 19.893 million lb in August ‘15, lower by 6.9% from the exports of nearly 21.368 million lb during the same month last year.
The leading destination of US brass mill products in August this year was Mexico. The exports to Mexico totaled nearly 8.337 million lb, followed by Canada with 4.937 million lb. The other leading export destinations were China (962,925lb), Saudi Arabia (691,321 lb) and Japan (568,868 lb).
Exports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 7.391 million lb in August ‘15. All pipe and tube products exports totaled 4.331 million lb. Exports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 5.764 million lb. Copper alloy wire exports totaled 2.406 million lb.
The cumulative exports of brass mill products during the initial eight-month period of the year totaled 169.587 million lb, marginally lower by 2.3% when matched with the exports of 173.543 million lb during Jan-August ’14.
