AISI Announces Addition of Two New Member Companies

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) announced addition of two new member companies to its fold.

The new companies that are now part of the Institute are Ghent, KY-based North American Stainless and Calvert, AL-based Outokumpu. The AISI Board of Directors, in its meeting held last week, had approved the addition. Also, the Board is now expanded to include Olli-Matti Saksi, President of Outokumpu Stainless USA, and Cristobal Fuentes, President and CEO of North American Stainless.

Roger Newport, Chairman of the AISI Board of Directors welcomed the companies to AISI and Cris Fuentes and Olli-Matti Saksi to the Board of Directors. The significant presence of these companies in North America will enhance AISI’s presence on Capitol Hill and its influence with policy makers, said Thomas J. Gibson, President and CEO, AISI. The membership will deliver added value to the companies, he added.

The AISI membership will further strengthen the company’s partnership with its colleagues in the steel industry, said Fuentes. By working with AISI, the company is trying to uphold its commitment in ensuring that American steel industry remains globally competitive, noted Saksi.
