AF&PA Signalled Resilient U.S. Paper Recycling Market Amidst Pandemic

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released a statement, which says that the U.S. paper industry and paper recycling continued to remain resilient during the pandemic.

The statement released by  Heidi Brock, President and CEO, AF&PA said that the members were successful in navigating the difficult challenges created by the ongoing pandemic, the threats of which are not yet over. All participants of the U.S. paper and wood products industry and paper recycling continued to work safely and diligently towards promoting a circular economy.

The papermakers worldwide were faced with several pandemic-related challenges, like all sectors of the economy. These included supply chain constraints such as ocean freight bottlenecks and limited truck availability. However, the industry as a whole and specifically the paper recycling sector extended high-quality customer service throughout the pandemic period.

The statistics published by AF&PA indicate that the year-to-date total paper recovery for recycling until July this year stood at impressive 8.9%. The mills in the U.S. have significantly boosted consumption of recycled paper fibre in the manufacture of new products.
