AF&PA Released New Tool to Further Advance Paper Recycling

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) released a new tool ‘The Design Guidance for Recyclability’, which offers resources to assist packaging designers and brands in designing and manufacturing packaging that meet recyclability goals. It provides details on impacts of non-fiber elements, such as coatings and additives on the recyclability of paper-based packaging.

According to Heidi Brock, president and CEO, AF&PA, the increased consumer preference for sustainable packaging has forced brands to add more recyclable packaging to their portfolio. The guide would be a true asset to those seeking to innovate around sustainable packaging.

The findings in the report are the result of the AF&PA member survey of as many as 86 mills in the U.S. and Canada.
