$10 Million Available in New Granite State Clean Fleets Program

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) announces a new funding opportunity for the replacement of municipally owned old diesel vehicles/ engines/equipment with new diesel and electric vehicle (EV) models. The new program, Granite State Clean Fleets (GSCF), has made $10 million available, and project proposals will be accepted through October 13, 2023.

GSCF is funded through the portion of money in the New Hampshire Volkswagen Trust that was allocated for local government projects. A second funding opportunity is available through the New Hampshire Clean Diesel Grant Program (DERA), with project proposals accepted through September 15, 2023. While GSCF funding is only open to local government entities, the DERA funding does not have that restriction; it can be awarded to businesses, nonprofits, state agencies and more. DERA-funded projects must reduce diesel emissions, often through replacement of heavy-duty vehicles or non-road equipment.

The two competitive programs have some overlap but are not identical.
