Iron and Steel scrap imports by Pakistan surged 15% in August

ISLAMABAD (Scrap Monster) : According to most recent data published by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS), the country’s total imports of iron and steel scrap during the month of August increased by 15% over the previous month.

As per data, Pakistan imported 180,125 mt of iron and steel scrap during August this year. The total imports during the month surged by 15% when compared to the previous month. Also, the imports are up 7% when compared with those during August 2012.

The value of iron and steel scrap imports by Pakistan during August this year amounted to $71.4 million, rising by 15.3% compared to the previous month. The scrap iron and steel import value has jumped by 23% when compared with those during August 2012.

Meanwhile, the country’s iron and steel imports during the month of August totaled 100,500 mt. The imports dropped by 7.1% over the month and by 31% upon comparison with imports during August 2012. The total value of country’s iron and steel imports was $72.9 million, falling sharply by over 36% year-on-year.

PFBS is the government agency that collects and compiles statistical data relating to various socio-economic sectors through primary, secondary sources and administrative records of the government.
