CCFD investigates overnight fire at scrap metal recycling plant

ARLINGTON (Scrap Monster): Fire broke out at Commercial Metals Company Recycling Division early morning Monday around 1.00 AM. Fire crews were called to the scrap metal recycling center off Highway 44 in Bronco Road near Agnes.

Firefighters from Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) located a burning pile of debris in a three-sided building. The fire was contained to just one pile, but the pile was about 40 feet, which made the crews battle out for hours to bring it under control. The crews were seen tearing apart the debris and cooling them down so that the fire doesn’t spread further.

According to sources, nobody was injured in the fire accident. However, the cause of the fire is still unknown and is under investigation by the CCFD officials.

Founded in 1915 as a single location, family owned and operated scrap processing facility in Dallas, Texas, Commercial Metals Company (CMC) Recycling has grown into an industry leader. CMC is a global, low-cost metals recycling, manufacturing, fabricating, and trading enterprise. CMC's recycling segment processes approximately 4 million tons of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap annually. The company buys, processes, sells and manages scrap in collaboration partners throughout the US and other parts of the world
