SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The latest research report published by The Insight Partners says that world e-scrap recycling market is projected to reach $8.2 billion by 2028. This compares with $3.2 billion in 2021. Over the forecast period, the market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.3%.
The report highlights various programs launched in Asia Pacific countries towards environmentally sound management of electronic waste. However, the success of these programs has been hampered by various challenges. Most countries in the region face lack of necessary recycling infrastructure and financial resources. The sector is clearly dominated by informal players who lack expertise and professional treatment. The scope of formal e-waste recycling sector is highly limited in these countries, the report noted.
It recommends the need for innovative models that will allow the informal sector to adopt safe recycling methods.
