Veolia Tackles Royal Wedding Cleanup

SEATTLE (Waste 360): While many people gathered near St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in Windsor, UK, to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their wedding day, the collection crew at Veolia prepared to clean up the streets and estate.

Veolia had 37 operatives, including 33 litter pickers and four managers, keeping the Long Walk clean.

“We’re expecting 20 tonnes of waste to be discarded,” said Mark Gray, general manager of Veolia Windsor, in a statement. “Our dedicated staff was drafted in from across London outside their usual shifts to assist and worked alongside police and security services to ensure a safe, tidy route was maintained for onlookers, the wedding party and the happy couple."
