Michigan Attorney General Sues Landfill Operator

SEATTLE (Waste 360):  Arbor Hills Landfill in Washtenaw County’s Salem Township is not compliant with state and federal law for air quality and solid waste management, according to a new lawsuit filed by Michigan's attorney general.

AG Dana Nessel filed suit on behalf of the state against Advanced Disposal Services' Arbor Hills Landfill Inc., the landfill's operators. Nessel, saying the landfill has been a "nuisance for years," is causing health concerns for nearby residents.

In a statement, Nessel commented, “the operator of the Arbor Hills Landfill has continually demonstrated a blatant disregard for the serious concerns raised by community members and the state."
