The landfill is on pace to be full by 2036, which leaders say will mean higher costs when trash has to be transferred offsite.

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): A new seasonal position at Linn County Solid Waste Agency will help divert items from the landfill. Everyone has trash and where it accumulates in Linn County is running out of room.”We’re taking care of all the garbage that is generated by the 230,000 people that live in Linn County. We always say we don’t make the garbage, we just make sure they get taken care of the best way possible,” said Joe Horaney, Communication Director at Linn County Solid Waste Agency.

The landfill is on pace to be full by 2036, which leaders say will mean higher costs when trash has to be transferred offsite. A new seasonal position could help the situation.

“We’re looking for people to really work with our customers that come in on diversion. So making sure if they’re at the walls throwing things away, are they taking things out of there that could have been recycled or could have been reused? And same thing making sure that they’re recycling the right ways, not putting things that can’t be recycled in with the good recyclables,” Horaney explained.
