SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Demopolis-headquartered Two Rivers Lumber Co. LLC plans to build a new state-of-the-art sawmill in Kellyton, Coosa County, Alabama at a projected investment of approximately $115 million. The proposed sawmill would be the company’s second operational facility in the state. Two Rivers had initially considered Mississippi also as a potential location for the sawmill.
According to Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, the new Alabama sawmill is expected to create around 130 new jobs in the region over a one-year period with an average annual salary of just over $51,000. The Coosa County facility will produce Southern Yellow Pine dimensional lumber. It must be noted that the company’s existing sawmill facility near Demopolis employs 145 people and has an annual production capacity of up to 200 million board feet.

Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce stated that the investment will generate a significant number of well-paying jobs in the region, in addition to driving Coosa County’s economic growth. Also, it will provide new opportunities to local residents and brighter future for their communities, he added.
