If the bottles are not reusable, they repurpose them.
SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): East Central University is taking a big step in cleaning the environment by turning recycled material into unique garden decor. The school’s glass recycling program is transforming one man’s trash into another man’s treasure by creating pavestones from old glass bottles.“Trash is only trash if you waste it,” Adrian Ohdiambo, the program’s director said. “What we’re doing with our glass bottles is we’re trying to reclaim these bottles. We’re trying to reuse them, recycle them and after recycling, we’re trying to introduce new value to them.”
If the bottles are not reusable, they repurpose them. First, they grind the glass into a sand-like material and pour it into a concrete mix. Finally, they will pour the mix into a mold, turning the waste material into a beautiful piece of art. One way you could help is by donating any old bottles you have to the program.
“How we ask the community to help us is by bringing these bottles to us because at the end of the day, our main goal is trying to prevent bottles from overfilling our already overflowing landfills.”
