Liberty Tire Recycling Announces New President and Chief Commercial Officer

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Liberty Tire Recycling announced that Andrew Meurer joined the company as President and Chief Commercial Officer. Meurer joins Liberty after more than 12 years at Michelin, most recently as Vice President of Sales for the North American Passenger Tire Division. Prior to Michelin, Meurer spent decades at Procter and Gamble (P&G) and Kimberly-Clark. Meurer will spearhead Liberty’s efforts to collaborate with tire manufacturers and tire retailers to expand existing and design new sustainable end-of-life solutions for tires.

“Andrew is the right person for the next phase of Liberty,” said Thomas Womble, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling. “As an industry, we know we need to continue to evolve and innovate since end-of-life tires can be one of the biggest risks manufacturers and retailers face if they aren’t managed properly.”

Meurer will focus on cost-effective solutions and better end markets for end-of-life tires that align with the sustainability goals of both the tire retailers and tire manufacturers. Meurer will also play a key role in helping Liberty to meet its goal of zero waste through collaboration with customers and industry partners.

North America produces more than 300 million scrap tires every year, a number that continues to increase as the number of cars on the road continues to grow. As the largest tire recycler in North America, Liberty is committed to expanding existing markets, identifying new opportunities, and finding the highest and best use for tires in order to ensure every end-of-life tire is kept out of landfills.

“End of life tires are a big challenge. Tires today are safer and last longer than ever before, but that makes them even more difficult to recycle,” said Meurer. “I’m excited to work with Liberty and the team at Energy Capital Partners to transform tire recycling so we can better meet the needs of the entire value chain.”
