DS Smith Achieved Topmost Score in S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading packaging major DS Smith plc. achieved maximum scores across several categories in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). The company scored 67 points in the 2021 S&P Global CSA, registering an improvement of 16 points over the previous year. The score is well ahead of the average score of 38 by the entire Containers and Packaging industry.

The score is in recognition of its Circular Design Principles and Circular Design Metrics and its efforts to protect natural resources as part of its Now and Next sustainability strategy. DS Smith scored for its excellence in other areas of climate strategy and water-related risks, said the company press release.

Commenting on the important achievement, Oliver Bradley, Sustainability Reporting Manager at DS Smith the CSA ranking is based on sustainability metrics of companies, which are publicly available. The company used the results as a key tool in developing its Sustainability Report 2021. The high 2021 CSA score will help its stakeholders to make better decisions, he added.

S&P Global ranks the companies after evaluating sustainability practices at more than 10,000 companies worldwide. The CSA forms the basis for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) series.
