Battery Recycler Li-Cycle Earns Prestigious Certifications

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mississauga, Ontario-headquartered Li-Cycle Corp. announced that it has received certifications for four industry standards for its Mississauga office and Kingston recycling facilities.

According to company press release, the company locations earned the prestigious ISO 9001 quality standard, ISO 14001 environmental standard, ISO 45001 employee health and safety standard and the R2 electronics recycling standard.

The milestone achievement provides assurance to all stakeholders that the company follows highest quality standards and implements consistent measures to improve environmental impacts. The certifications guarantee safe and healthy workplaces. In addition, it is also an acknowledgement of the sustainable and socially responsible electronics recycling practices followed at its facilities.

Tim Johnston, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder, Li-Cycle stated that undergoing these rigorous audits was critical to its effort in providing the best possible services to its customers and employees. The certifications are a major milestone for the entire team. At the same time, it reaffirms the company’s strong commitment to managing quality, the environment, health and safety and sustainability, he added.

Li-Cycle is one of the largest lithium-ion battery recyclers in the North American region. It has 10,000 metric tons per year of spoke capacity.
