SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The preliminary estimates released by the Aluminum Association indicates that aluminum industry in the U.S. and Canada recorded 6.3% year-to-date growth in demand through the third quarter of 2022. The strong demand trends witnessed in Q1 and Q2 continued into the third quarter.

The aluminum demand in the U.S. and Canada totalled around 21.0 billion pounds during the initial three quarters of the current year. This is higher by 6.3% over the same period a year before. The demand through Q3 touched record demand levels recorded earlier in 2018 and 2019. The Q3 aluminum demand recorded marginal decline by 2.1% from the prior quarter, but was up by 7% over Q3 2022.

The demand for flat-rolled aluminum products, including sheet, plate and foil, registered 8.4% surge through September 2022. The exports of semi-fabricated aluminum products too surged significantly during this period.
